“OLD HAT BAND” … a pack of “Old Dogs” with a bag of “New Licks” has a rhythmic
Country sound with a taste of Rock & Roll that gets people on their feet and dancing the night away. The old dogs play what they call “Rockin-Texas-Country”, an eclectic mix of Country, Rhythm, Blues and vintage Rock & Roll, served up hot and spicy like a good Texas barbeque sauce. The band is made up of veteran road musicians who have “paid their dues” in the honkytonks and juke joints of America. T. Gozney hails from the c-OZ- mic “Austin Scene” of the 70’s and has played from coast to coast. He had featured cuts on the 1975 Kerrville Folk Festival album, KOKE FM’s “Best Bands in Austin” album, the official state sesquicentennial album, “The Fathers of Texas,” singing a duet with Ray Wylie Hubbard, and recorded his “Pass It On” album at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales studio. Additionally he has played at several Willies Picnics, Farm Aid, The Palomino Club in Hollywood, California and the stages of Las Vegas. His band, “The T. Gozney Band” was written up in Bill Board magazine as one of the top five bands in the Pacific Northwest. Dan Sherbon, The Professor; taught College music for several decades and has played in bands throughout the state of Oklahoma and Texas. He is considered one of the best, keyboard, steel and sax men in the Southwest! His incredible sound encompasses everything from the “honky-tonk piano” of Floyd Cramer to the B-3 organ of Santana and the blues of Ray Charles. His steel playing evokes memories of Buddy Emmons, Pete Drake and Ralph Mooney. His saxophone is reminiscent of the great Boots Randolph. This man can flat PLAY!!! Allen hails from Menard, Texas via California. He is one of the premier new talents in Texas. After a four-year stint in the United States Air Force disassembling bombs all over the world, Ace returned to Texas to begin his even more exciting life as “Guitarist Extraordinaire!”; He has a gritty country-blues guitar style that enhances the Old Hat sound and gets the crowd moving. He is also a fine vocalist with a very soulful and meaningful delivery. Dan Tucker lays down a steady and heavy bottom for the band and sings country and rock songs like he "means it!" The leader of the band “Bad Rodeo” in Austin, Texas for twenty years, Dan brings a world of experience to the Old Hat Band. He is truly a Consummate Musician!; Manuel Burciega has been one of the premier drummers in Texas for over twenty years. He is the go to drummer in West Texas when a steady beat is required. When recording in San Antonio, Flaco Jimenez once commented that Manuel is like a clock, “Tick-Tock!”
