Havins is a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist from Austin, TX. He believes that music is a kind of magic and it brings him a joy and meaning that he cannot experience anywhere else. Havins’ mission is not only to experience this feeling for himself but to share it with others through his songs, his shows, and his story.
Ever since he was ten years old, Havins knew that he wanted to write songs and perform. By the age of 12, he was playing shows with a band around the central Texas area and was featured on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, making it to the Vegas Round. He also released two EPs at the ages of 13 and 15 and performed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in 2014. In high school, he released a four track EP called, “Dawn," and held a release show which drew over 200 people. In 2017, he moved to Boston, MA to attend Berklee College of Music. Shortly after arriving in Boston, he participated in the ABC reboot of American Idol, and made it to the Hollywood Week round. While in Boston, Havins worked on his craft, played many shows at many of Boston's premier venues, and released four singles. In May of 2020, Havins would have embarked on his first national tour, had it not been for the pandemic. As of now, he is living in Austin and trying to expand his career there. On October 10th, he released the Fear and Wonderment EP, his first self produced endeavor.
Havins' sound lies somewhere at the crossroads of Folk/Singer-Songwriter and Alternative Rock. His biggest influences are Bon Iver, Shakey Graves, and Phoebe Bridgers, as well as greats like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Havins always has the desire to do something new in his music and loves to let his sound evolve over time naturally. Havins believes in trying to be authentically himself both on and off stage and spreading a message of loving all people (including yourself) and being grateful for life.
